Obituary of Eric Prestegaard
Eric F. Prestegaard
Age 65, of Minooka, IL, passed peacefully, with his family at his side, Sunday, January 4, 2015. He was born May 4, 1949 to the late Josephine (nee Maple) and Harold Prestegaard in Sandwich, IL where he was raised and educated, graduating with the class of 1967 from Sandwich High School. He also attended Waubonsee Community College. A U.S. Army Veteran, he served during the Vietnam war and was awarded the Bronze Star.
Beloved husband of 32 years to Maureen (nee Brannick) Prestegaard; loving father of Sharon Kavadas, Erica (Rocky) Garvey, Joseph and Matthew Prestegaard; proud grandpa of Nora and Amelia; dear brother of the late Ed Prestegaard, Pam Rud and Aaron Prestegaard. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Ed.
Eric retired from Burlington Northern Railroad after over 20 years of dedicated service as a Conductor. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and boating, however nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Eric Prestegaard will be held Saturday January 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials to his family would be appreciated.
