Obituary of Irene Baltas

Irene Baltas Age 90, peacefully Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Joliet, she was a long time Channahon, Elwood and Joliet area resident. Member of the Philoptochos Society and All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. One of Irene's greatest loves was spending time with family and friends. Irene was a kind and gentle soul, who always had a smile on her face for everyone she met. Preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen (nee Policandriotes) Baltas; and one brother, Jacob (Emily) Baltas. Survived by three loving sisters, Genevieve (the late James) Vrakas, Sophie (the late Bill) Honiotes and Marina (the late Steve) Passas all of Joliet; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for Irene Baltas will be Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 8:45 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for services at 9:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated. Visitation Monday 3-7 p.m. with Trisagion Services at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
