Obituary of R. Steven Judy

R. Steve Judy Age 69, of Morris and formerly of Plainfield, IL, died peacefully, Thursday January 29, 2015 at the Morris Hospital after a valiant battle against cancer. He was born May 12, 1945 in Pekin, IL to the late Carolyn (nee Rees) and Robert Judy, and was raised and educated in Plainfield, a 1963 graduate of Plainfield High School. Beloved husband of 29 years to Carol (nee Robey) Judy of Morris; dear brother of Rodger (Jane) Judy of Joliet and Cheryl (Bill) Pommerening of Plainfield. Fond uncle of Michelle (Kevin) Hattemer, Stacy Judy, Michael Judy; Brent (Magen) Pommerening and Allison (Rob) McElfresh. Great uncle of Jack and Regan Hattemer; Drake and Duke Pommerening; Natalie and Brooklyn McElfresh. Also surviving are a sister in law, Kathy Robey and his faithful canine companion, Silvie. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by Carol's parents, Russell and Bernice Robey and two brothers-in-law, Russell and Daniel Robey. Steve retired from Ameristar Casino where he enjoyed his occupation as a Pit Boss. He was previously employed at Harrah's Casino in Joliet, and in his younger years as a stockbroker with the former Oberweis Securities. He was also an avid golf enthusiast. As it was Steve's wish, cremation rites have been accorded. All friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday February 28, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1650 W. Route 6, Morris , IL. Pastor Steve Larson will officiate. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
