Zbigniew B. Szymel "Phil" Age 82. At rest Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 11, 1932 in Berezowiec, Poland to the late Stanislaw and Helena Szymel. A veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved playing and watching soccer and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jozefa "Josephine" (nee Hlady); three sons, Andrew (Joan), Christopher (Kinga) and Stanley (Joanna); 10 grandchildren, Anthony, Zachary, Mitchell, Christina (Michael) Kelly, Andrew, Matthew, Damian, Eryka, Klaudia and Michael; great-grandson Aiden Kelly; siblings, Zofia Kuntaras, Adam Szymel and Boguslawa "Lala" Russ; and many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Zbigniew B. Szymel will be Monday, February 2, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Mary Catholic Church, Minooka for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Private interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
