Obituary of Laurel Snodgrass

Laurel Dean Snodgrass "Admiral" Age 75. Peacefully, Monday, February 2, 2015 at his late residence with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 11, 1939 in Braceville, IL, he was raised in Peoria and returned to Braceville after serving in the United States Navy. He was a resident of Channahon for 40 years before moving to Crest Hill in 2006. Retired in 1999 from Caterpillar, Inc. in Joliet following 36 years of service. He enjoyed deer hunting, and getting together with the "fellas" for breakfast every Monday and Thursday. He was a volunteer for many years at MorningStar Mission in Joliet, Under His Wings in Morris, and the Grapevine Mission in Dwight. He faithfully served in God's house every Sunday for the past 35 years. Preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Velda (nee Pope) Snodgrass. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Peggy (nee Doubet) Snodgrass of Crest Hill; two daughters, Laurie (Karl) Braham and Ann (Chad) Miller of Fort Worth, TX; three grandchildren, Amber, Christopher and Corey; five great-grandchildren, including very dear to his heart, Bryce Bryner. Numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and many special friends also survive. Funeral Services for Laurel D. Snodgrass will be Friday, February 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, with Pastor Jim Arnold officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
