Obituary of Jerry Chaplin

Chaplin, Jerry G. "Chappy" Age 64. Suddenly Thursday, September 27, 2012 at his late residence as the result of an apparent heart attack. Born in Joliet and a lifelong Joliet area resident. A graduate of Joliet Central High School, Class of 1966. Employed at Jewel Food Stores at Route 59 at Caton Farm Road as a produce manager for the past 12 years. Formerly of A&P Food Store where he also was a produce manager for 16 years. He attended Messiah Lutheran Church for many years. His greatest loves in life were spending time with his family, he enjoyed fishing and being a workaholic. Jerry was very proud of his entire family, his wife the love of his life, his son who was his strength, his two adopted daughters and his two foster children; and soon to arrive as a Christmas present to the Chaplin Family is their third adopted daughter, Alexanndria. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Ann Marie (Nee Sylvester) Chaplin of Joliet; one son, Steven Michael (Samantha) Chaplin of Lexington, KY; two daughters, Stacy L. (Edward) Darby of Channahon and Andrianna Dominique Chaplin of Joliet; five grandchildren, Dominic "Nicky" Chaplin, Matthew, Jacob and Shelby Darby and Roman Chaplin; two brothers, Ronald (Kathy) Chaplin of Joliet and Robert (Nicole) Chaplin of Morris, IL; four sisters, Shirley (Tom) Koscik of Channahon, Donna (Bob) Morris of MN, Judy Johnson of Braidwood and Debbie (Leon) Trimmer of Plainfield; his faithful canine companion, Karlton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for Jerry G. Chaplin will take place Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. David Nygard officiating. As it was Jerry's final request, Cremation Rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name for his children's education fund would be appreciated.
