Roy M. Schick
Age 61, of Joliet, IL, passed away suddenly Tuesday, March 3, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born July 10, 1953 to the late Lucille (nee Hopcia) and Donald Schick and was raised on the Southwest side of Chicago, a graduate of De LaSalle High School, Class of 1971.
Survived by his wife and best friend of 38 years Donna J. (nee Foster) of Joliet; loving father of the late Michelle (in infancy), Christy (Michael) Lynch of Westmont and Brian (Lani) Schick of Braidwood. He was the proudest of grandfathers to Jordon Schick, Alyssa Schick and Chase Lynch. Fond brother of Donna, Cheryl (Mike) Hamby and Kim (Jerry) Ponio. One niece, numerous nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, two sisters, Debbie and Sandy.
Roy, a talented diesel mechanic foreman, was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose, Joliet Lodge #300 and the South Wilmington Firemen's Club. Roy was a Farmville II expert, in his spare time, he was an avid fisherman, boater and outdoorsman who enjoyed auto racing, restoring classic cars, motorcycling, cruises and the velocity channel. He also liked to watch reality TV and catch up on social media. Roy never met a stranger. Everyone was considered a friend. Roy was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Funeral services for Roy Schick will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015, 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. As it was Roy's wish, cremation rites will be accorded after services. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the wishes of the family would be appreciated.
