Obituary of Joseph Zupancic

Joseph A. Zupancic "Jack Rabbit" Age 92. Peacefully Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Aurora and Rockdale resident for the past 61 years. A WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Retired from the EJE Railroad after 32 years of service. Formerly employed at Reynolds Aluminum. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. Preceded by his parents, Anton and Jennie (nee Vasil) Zupancic; and one sister, Kathryn. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years and would have celebrated 65 years July 29, 2015, Audrey L. (nee Grossklaus) Zupancic of Rockdale; two daughters, Rhonda (Charles) Raysel of Joliet and Cheryl Zupancic of Rockdale; two sons, William and Robert (Kathy) Zupancic, both of Joliet; four grandchildren, Nathaniel Zupancic, Chuck "Poke" Raysel, Stacie (Mike) Knowles and Robert Zupancic; two great-grandchildren, Mikey and Kolton Knowles; his faithful canine companion, Taffy; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Joseph A. Zupancic will be held Monday, March 23, 2015 at 8:45 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded under the auspices of the United States Army. Visitation Sunday, 2-6 p.m. For more information: (815) 741-5500
