Obituary of Bertha Locher

Bertha Locher (nee Griparis) Age 89. At rest Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice home. Born in Joliet to the late Gregory and Despina (nee Stye) Griparis and a lifelong resident. Member of Hope Lutheran Church, Shorewood and former member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. Bertha enjoyed socializing with her friends and relatives. Survived by her two sons, Richard (Melissa) Locher, Jr. of Joliet and Thomas Locher of Channahon; four grandchildren, Beth (Doug) Kaiser, Gregory (Nicole) Locher, Nathaniel (Laurie) Locher and Nicholas (Judy) Locher; four great-grandchildren, Brendan and Jenna Smith, Leland Sode and Brian Locher; her sister-in-law, Jenny Vrakas of Joliet; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded by her loving husband, Richard Locher, Sr. (1997); her siblings that include seven of the Vrakas family and two of the Griparis family. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Hope Lutheran Church, 305 E. Black Road, Shorewood, IL 60404 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
