Obituary of Robert Callaghan
Robert F. Callaghan
Age 83, late of Sugar Grove and formerly of Shorewood, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Presence Mercy Medical Center, Aurora, with his family by his side.
Bob was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the AmVets. He was also a member of the Belmont AC and Matteson Lodge #175, A.F. and A.M. He worked as a building contractor and was a member of Carpenter's Local #174.
Survived by his wife, Judy (nee Presson) Callaghan of Sugar Grove; one son, Jeff Callaghan of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Connor, Jacob and Molly; two stepchildren, Marta (Aaron) Maschman and Robin (Joann) Kirkhove; two step-grandchildren, Hope and Faith Maschman; the child of his heart, Terry (Hope) Tait; one sister, Margaret (Jim) Gregorich of Merrimack, NH; one sister-in-law, Virginia (late Bill) Callaghan of Shorewood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his parents, Matthew and Anna (nee Feltz) Callaghan; one brother, William Callaghan; and his first wife, Patricia Callaghan.
Graveside Services for Robert F. Callaghan will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials in his name to the Humane Society of the United States, 2100 L St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20037 would be appreciated. There will be no visitation. For more information: (815) 741-5500.
