Obituary of David Berge

David H. Berge Age 73, of Newark, IL, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 4, 2015 after a battle with Parkinson's. He was born November 19, 1941 to the late Harold and Marie Berge, he was a lifelong Newark area resident. Dave was united in marriage November 30, 1963 to the former Vivian Sandeno and they spent the next 51 years together. He is survived by his wife, Vivian; daughter, Michele (Chris) McArthur; son, Kevin (Sandy) Berge; six grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan and Grant McArthur; Paige, Logan and Traece Berge. Preceded in death by his son Kyle, and his parents, Harold and Marie Berge. Dave first worked at Western Electric and Caterpillar Inc., until he realized his true calling in trucking. He had an excellent driving record. When he was younger, he enjoyed being assistant chief with the Newark Fire Department. After his retirement, he enjoyed mowing and doing part time work at Richie Brothers Sales in Morris, and running for cars with Terry Bentz. Funeral services for David Berge will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 at Helmar Lutheran Church, 11935 Lisbon Rd. in Newark where he will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until services begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Helmar Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Helmar Lutheran Church. Visitation will take place Thursday from 3 - 8 p.m. at the church. For information (815) 942-5040.
