Alicia M. McLeroy
(nee Berger)
Age 71, of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, April 7, 2015. She was born in Wolf Point, Montana September 9, 1943 to the late Mary Josephine "Toots" and Peter Berger. She moved with her family to the Joliet area at the age of 13 and attended Lockport Township High School where she graduated with the Class of 1961.
Beloved mother of Leah M. (Bill) Treasure, Richard L. McLeroy (Ashliegh Nussbaum), Jr., Mark A. McLeroy (Jill Moeggenberg), Angela S. McLeroy and JoAnne F. McLeroy (Shawn Beyer). Proud and devoted grandmother of Jackson Treasure, Amanda McLeroy and Hailey Treasure. Dear sister of Sandra Berger (Gary "Dean") Lippy, Elizabeth Berger (late John) Russell and Peter Dale Berger. Several nieces, nephews and many cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by her parents and siblings, JoAnne Berger (in infancy), Gerald "Jerry" Berger and Geraldine "Sis" Ridge.
Alicia enjoyed a lengthy career in retail sales. She volunteered in various capacities for several area organizations, including the Crisis Line. Her hobbies included line dancing, bowling, puzzles, cards, dice games and the movies. She was an Elvis fan and very proud of her Indian heritage.
Funeral Services for Alicia M. McLeroy will be held Monday, April 13, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet to St. Patrick Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice, Heartland Blood Centers or any charity benefiting the American Indian.
