Obituary of Eugene Hoffmeyer

Eugene C. Hoffmeyer Age 89, of Joliet, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, with his family at his side. Born July 19, 1925 in Joliet, he was the son of William Nicholas and Mabel (Borgman) Hoffmeyer, and was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School. He retired from Amoco Chemical after 28 years of service. He was also a long time member of Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #300. Gene's greatest joy was his family and he always looked forward to family gatherings. His interests included NASCAR and following the Chicago Cubs. He will be remembered for his love of animals, especially his dogs. Surviving are his six children, Debra "Debbie" Klingler of Hanover, IN, Donna (Stephen "Steve") Sievert of Plainfield, John (Ann) Hoffmeyer of Coal City, Robert "Bob" (Kathy) Hoffmeyer of Lockport, Diane (Charles "Chuck") Moscato of Shorewood, and William "Bill" (Peggy) Hoffmeyer of Joliet; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his special long time companion, Beverly Sievert. Preceded by his beloved wife, Georgianna (Johnson) Hoffmeyer (April 8, 1989); two sons, in infancy; his parents; two sisters, Bernadine Kuzma and Lucille Cushing; and two brothers, Richard Hoffmeyer and Raymond Hoffmeyer. Funeral services for Eugene Hoffmeyer will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation TUESDAY MORNING, 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
