Obituary of Diane Merriman

Diane Marie Merriman (nee Hibler) Age 61. Passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015, with her family at her side, at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, following a valiant battle against cancer which she fought for 21 years. Born August 10, 1953 in Joliet, she was a 1967 graduate of Sacred Heart Grade School and Joliet Central High School, Class of 1971. She then attended beauty school and worked many years as a hair stylist. She was a member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church and active in the Womens Club where she served many years as treasurer. Diane was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She touched many lives and always went above and beyond, putting the needs of others first. She will be remembered for always being upbeat and having a smile on her face despite her pain. She will always be an example to us. Surviving are her beloved husband of 38 years, David G. Merriman of Joliet; two children, Jennifer (Gregory) Pakula and Jason (Kristen) Merriman, both of Joliet; four grandchildren, Kaylee, Alayna, and Alyson Pakula and Jacob Merriman; her sister, Linda (Gary) Heap of Minooka; her brothers, David (Diane) Hibler of Joliet, Steven (Kathleen) Butts of Morris, Lawrence (Barbara) Butts of Michigan, Thomas (Ilene) Butts of Edwardsville; her mother-in-law, Mary Jane Merriman of Joliet; a brother-in-law, Tom (Beth) Merriman of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded by her parents, Margaret (Sandretto) (1994) and Maynard "Pete" Butts (2008), one granddaughter, Paige Pakula (2013); her father-in-law, Edward Merriman (1995); and one brother-in-law, Alan Merriman. Funeral Services for Diane M. Merriman will be held Friday, April 17, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Mary Nativity for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
