Marian A. Connors
(nee Futterer)
Age 89, late of the Senior Star Community, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with her family by her side.
She was born January 16, 1926 to the late Louise (nee Schwartz) and Edward R. Futterer in Joliet, IL where she was raised and educated, attending St. John's Grade School and St. Francis Academy. Marian lived most of her life in Joliet, however, from 1974 - 2004 resided in Moline, IL where she volunteered at the local hospital and was active in many community groups.
Beloved mother of Jeannette (Jim) DaRosa of Lockport, Sue (Dave) Raspolich of Channahon, Chris (Rick) Miller of Joliet and Maureen (Rich) Lenke of Mt. Prospect; 17 dear grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Nancy (James) Miranda of Orange Beach, AL; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou and Ruth Futterer; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, William B. Connors (April 25, 2011); one son, William E. Connors; one sister, Dorothy (late Warren) Evans; two brothers, Edward and Richard "Dick" Futterer and her parents.
Marian was an active resident of Senior Star at Weber Place where she was known for her wonderful singing and warm personality. She thoroughly enjoyed volunteering for various activities within her community. Another of her talents included sewing; an excellent seamstress, she lovingly created outfits for her family and friends. She was a fantastic baker and gracious hostess of many get togethers over the years. She and her late husband, William, enjoyed traveling throughout the world together. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family.
In her younger years, Marian was active with the school board and the Mother's Club at the Cathedral of St. Raymond.
Marian shared her kind, caring soul with all and will be remembered fondly for her positive outlook on everything in life. Her courage and love of life will be a lasting example to all who knew her. Her family is most grateful to the staff of Senior Star, Presence St. Joseph Medical Center and Joliet Area Community Hospice for their loving care shown to Marian throughout the latter stage of her life.
Funeral Services for Marian Connors will be held Monday, April 20, 2015, 11:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon. Interment and committal prayers Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL where all are asked to gather (at the information center) at 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
