Marilynn Ann Spencer
(nee O'Brien)
Age 82, of Joliet, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 1, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Marilynn had a large family and will leave behind a lasting legacy. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother of six children and 47 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Swimming was her love. She taught all of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids how to swim. She loved life and religiously prayed for her family and friend's health and happiness. She also prayed for her heavenly Father to bring her home. Those lives she touched, love her dearly as she loved them.
Marilynn retired from Silver Cross Hospital where she worked many years as a switchboard operator.
Survived by her six children, Lynn (Larry) Litwicki, George (Julie) Spencer, Lesley (Jim) Grzetich, Dawn Sanchez, Kelly (Andy) Sefcik and Tammy Fields; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jack (Donna) O'Brien; several nieces and nephews; and Art Winslow, who she thought of as a son.
Preceded by her husband, Master Sgt. George F. Spencer, who retired from the U.S. Air Force after 25 years; her parents, George and Dorothy (Mehl) O'Brien; and one brother, Eugene O'Brien.
Funeral Services for Marilynn Ann Spencer will be held Monday, May 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1301 Sterling Avenue, Joliet. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation Monday morning, 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
