Obituary of Robert Larson
Robert E. Larson
Age 82, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2015 at his home.
Born August 17, 1932 in Joliet, he was the son of Rudolph and Blanche (Smith) Larson. He was a graduate of Joliet Township High School, Class of 1950, and then served with the United State Air Force.
He began his career with Commonwealth Edison, serving 15 years in various capacities before joining Kemlite where he served as Data Processing Manager for 17 years. He later enjoyed working as a realtor for Coldwell Banker Hoenig-Bell.
Bob was active in his community as a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served as President of the Church Council and sang in the choir. He was also a member and past president of the Joliet Kiwanis Club, and a member of Old timers Baseball Association of Will County.
An accomplished singer, he sang with several choirs as well as singing for weddings and funerals. One of his fondest memories was singing back-up for Andy Williams and Dinah Shore at the Rialto Square Theater.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 years, Myrtle L. (Sagvold) Larson; proud father of two sons, David Larson of Joliet, and Dr. Alan Larson of Nacogdoches, TX; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Sturdy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his parents; one son, Donald, at birth; one brother, Grant (Viola) Larson; and three sisters, Eleanor Sturdy, Mildred (Bill) Stange, and Juanita (Ray) Weber.
A Memorial Service for Robert E. Larson will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 353 N. Midland Avenue, Joliet. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will follow services at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorial in his name to Faith Lutheran Church or American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
