Lelan W. Pifer

Age 78. At rest Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Findley, OH, the son of the late Roland and Leona (nee Redick) Pifer. Residing in Minooka the past 45 years. Graduate of Arlington High School, Arlington, OH. Received his bachelors degree from "THE" Ohio State University. A U.S. Army veteran. Retired from Olin Chemical (Blockson) as a lab technician in 1989 and Minooka High School following 10 years of service. Member, deacon and former treasurer of Plattville Lutheran Church, Minooka. Lelan's passion in life was following the stock market and he thoroughly loved THE Ohio State Buckeyes.

Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Anita (nee Brown) Pifer of Minooka; four children, Cynthia (Lawrence) Cook of San Diego, CA, John A. Pifer of Morris, Virginia (Michael) Keating of Shorewood and James E. (Tara) Pifer of Mint Hill, NC; 12 grandchildren, John (Tracy) Pifer Jr., Jason Rivera, Breanna (Tyler) Cap, Rachel Pifer, Jacquelyn Pifer, Jennifer Keating, Mikey Keating, Timothy James "T.J.", Matthew, Nicholas and Samuel O'Brien-Pifer, Amanda (Scott) Blons; three great-grandchildren, Steven Stirrat Jr., Jordan Griggs and Kirsten Kent; mother, Leona; sister, Leanne Bateson; his aunt, Marcia Boehm, all of Arlington, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded by his father, Roland.

Lelan W. Pifer will lie in state Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Plattville Lutheran Church, 5475 Bell Road, Minooka from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Bret Reedy officiating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Monday, 2-4 p.m. and again from 6-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet.
