Obituary of Gladys Gingerich

Gladys D. Gingerich (nee Yoder) Age 84, of Morris and formerly of Naperville, IL, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Loyola Hospital, Maywood, IL surrounded by her loving family. Gladys was born July 18, 1930 to the late Melvin and Kathryn (nee Otto) Yoder on the family farm north of Wellman, Iowa. She was raised on the farm and attended neighboring Kalona schools, graduating from Kalona High School with the class of 1949. Gladys was a member of a women's scripture reading group every Monday morning, volunteered at DANADA House in Wheaton, IL; other hobbies include oil painting, reading, photography, canning of fruit and vegetables, making jelly and gardening. Gladys was an extraordinary wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for them. Beloved wife of 63 years to, Lando Gingerich, Jr.; loving mother of, Nancy (Louis) Holland, Jennifer (Loren) Smith, Jeffrey (Mary Ann) Gingerich; grandmother of nine ; great-grandmother of 12 and many nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded by her parents; one sister, Dorothy Jean Fleming and one brother, Elwood Yoder. A memorial service will take place Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Jackson Street in Morris, IL where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by services at 11 a.m. As it was Gladys' wish cremation rites have been accorded. Committal prayers and inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood,IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Presbyterian Church, Morris or American Diabetes Association in her name would be appreciated. Visitation MONDAY from 4-7 p.m. at Fred C.
