Obituary of Stanley Latawiec

Stanley W. Latawiec Age 97, of Channahon, IL, passed away peacefully at home Friday, June 12, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born November 24, 1917 in Chicago, he was the son of James and Ann Latawiec. He was a proud Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a chemist for Flavorchem, not retiring until after age 70. Stanley was a very active member of Queen of the Universe Catholic Church and Senior Center, and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the American Legion, and was also active with Our Lady of Loretto Senior Center. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and a great father who was a kind and patient man. He loved to bowl, golf, play pinochle, bingo, vacation in Las Vegas, gardening, and especially spending time with his family. Beloved husband of 57 years to the late Lillian M. (nee Pawlowski) Latawiec; loving father of Gloria (late Robert) Mishka, Lee (Julie) Latawiec and Linda (Michael) Sowa; cherished grandfather of Brian, Robin, Adam, Anthony, Krystle, Tina, and Michele; great-grandfather of many; and uncle, cousin and friend to many. Preceded by his wife; parents; brother, and sisters. Funeral Services for Stanley W. Latawiec will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Ann Catholic Church, 24500 S. Navajo Drive, Channahon for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be private. Visitation Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
