Obituary of Leona Clark

Leona F. Clark (nee Drauden) Age 91, of Minooka, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born May 30, 1919 to Raymond and Frances (Shepley) Drauden in Plainfield Illinois. She spent many of her early years on her Grandpa's farm on Drauden Road (Marian Lake). She married her husband James in 1940 in St Mary's Church Minooka. They farmed up to 1960 in Kendall and Grundy Counties. She worked for old St. Joes as an aid, Topps Department Store, Phillips Hardware, a bus driver for Minooka High School, and served as Aux Sable Township Trustee. Over the years she enjoyed knitting, quilting, flower arranging, and cake decorating. She enjoyed retirement with her husband going to Florida, exercising in the pool, shelling, painting and playing cards with dear friends. She is survived by four children, Richard (Mary), David, and Jean Clark and Judith (David) Corbin; four grandchildren, Alan and Keith Clark, Shawn (Jen) Corbin, and Colleen (Chris) Fals, and three great-grandchildren Matthew, Tyler, and Ashley Fals. Leona was preceded in death by her husband James in November of 2009; a brother Elmer (Betty) Drauden and a sister, Gertrude (Laverne "Oley") Clark. Leona was the relater, she listened with empathy, supported with a warm heart, and guided with soft hands. She had eyes and a smile that radiated from her heart. The past year Leona had resided at Lakewood Nursing Home in Plainfield and very much enjoyed her morning coffee with her son-in-law Dave Corbin. Her family rejoices in her journey home to her heavenly father. Alleluia, Alleluia, Amen. Funeral Services for Leona F. Clark will be Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 303 E. St. Mary's St., Minooka where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary Cemetery in Minooka. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Mary Catholic Church Building Fund or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Monday 3-7 p.m. at: FRED C.
