I met Charlene this spring as I volunteered for Joliet Hospice. She was my bright light in my weekly visits to Sunny Hill. She had a wonderful fiesty way about her. Charlene kept a spiral notebook and recorded notes on everything and every visit. She knew my name, where I had worked pre-retirement, and which part of town I lived in. Besides being an avid note taker, Charlene also had at least one word search book in progress at all times. She noticed my pen the first day I came and asked it she could use it for a minute. I simply gave it to her. Being a bit of a pen hoarder myself, I made a point of bringing an interesting pen with me each week and leaving it with her. Check her purse--it has to be full of my pens! I'm going to miss my weekly visits with Charlene.
