"Bob"
Age 92. Passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Senior Star at Weber Place. Born on August 7, 1923 in Joliet. Robert proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. Retired from the Teamsters in 1985. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and brothers and working in his garden.
Survived by four loving sons, James (Sharon) Heintz , Robert W. Swanson, Jr., Garrett F. (Patricia Maley) Heintz and Kenneth (Kimberly) Swanson; brother, Charles (Shirley) Swanson; sisters, Lois (Kelly) Parrish and Ruth (James) Langlois; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
Preceded by his parents, Elmer and Elsie (nee Schroeder) Swanson; his first wife; Rita (nee Freehauf) Swanson (1965) and Mary (nee Cankar) Swanson (2001); brother, Harry E. Swanson (2015); and daughter-in-law, Janet Heintz (2007).
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Angels Grace Hospice and the staff at Senior Star at Weber Place for the wonderful care provided to Bob.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made as gifts in Bob's memory to his family for their distribution.
Funeral Services for Robert W. Swanson will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full Military Honors under the Auspices of the United States Army. Visitation Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
