Obituary of Shawn Capodice

Shawn L. Capodice (nee Bundy) "Shawnee" "Mrs. Cap" Age 48. Peacefully Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice home with her family by her side following a courageous battle with a very rare form of cancer. Born in Charleston, IL, raised in Frankfort, IL and a Minooka resident for the past 23 years. A graduate of Lincolnway High School, Class of 1985 and the University of St. Francis, attaining a master's degree in Administration and bachelor's degree in Mathematics. "Mrs. Cap" was the Instructional Leader (department head) of the Math Department at Minooka Community High School with 21 years of dedicated service, right up until her illness prevented her from going back to work "just one more day". Math may have been her career, but the young men, women and staff of Minooka Community High School were her passion. Preceded by paternal grandparents, Floyd and Pearl (nee Cunningham) Bundy; maternal grandfather, Harold "Doc" Miller; and her father-in-law, John J. Capodice, Jr. Survived by her loving and devoted husband of 25 years, Brian Capodice; one daughter, Madison "Maddie" Capodice; one son, Niko Capodice, all of Minooka; parents, Dennis and Sheron (nee Miller) Bundy of Palmetto, FL; her maternal grandmother, Ruth "Nana" Miller of Sun City Center, FL; her aunt Connie Miller of Fairfield, IL; her mother-in-law, Judi Brooks of Morris, IL; two brothers-in-law, John (Colleen) Capodice of Lemont and Tony (Eileen) Capodice of Colorado; one sister-in-law, Julie (Neal) Iorii of Bloomingdale, IL; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for Shawn L. Capodice will be held Friday, September 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Pastor Sarah Hong officiating. Following Shawnee's visitation, Cremation Rites will be accorded with final inurnment at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials to the Shawn Capodice Fund to establish a scholarship at Minooka Community High School would be the vision of her family. Visitation Thursday, 3-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
