Henry P. Kapsch
Henry passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 one day before his 90th birthday at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Henry was born October 2, 1925 in Joliet. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1980 as a Supervisor after 37 years of service.
He is survived by two nieces;, Nancy (the late Dan) Fischer, of Anacortes, WA and Janice (John) Ferrell of New Orleans, LA; three nephews in MN; several cousins; his best friend and companion of 40 years, Rita Postel, who was his care taker for the past 3 1/2 years; friends, Harry May, Bernie Meyer, Todd Franklin, Rob Barrowman, Tom Sowa and Caryn Aldrich, who were all true friends for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Frank Kapsch; his five brothers, Richard, Francis, Harold, William and Bernard.
Henry was a member of Harwood Post #5, American Legion and also Voiture 796 of 40 & 8, Irving A.C and the Old Timers Baseball.
Henry had a great sense of humor and many other friends. He donated property at the corner of Plainfield Road and Nicholson Street when Plainfield Road was redone. The City of Joliet created a cul-de-sac and put up a sign "Kapsch's Korner" to honor Henry's mother and her five sons who all served in WWII.
