Obituary of Thomas Studer

Thomas S. Studer Age 63. Peacefully Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home following a courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side. Born in Joliet, and a life long Joliet area resident. A Providence Catholic High School graduate, he went on to Miami Dade and the University of Western Kentucky on a golf scholarship. Tom has been in the insurance and financial advisory profession for over 40 years. He found his home at National Life and Equity Services for the past 37 years, serving his clients right up until two weeks before the good Lord called him home. This young boy went on to win 23 club championships at Joliet Country Club, was one of the state's top amateurs competing coast to coast and abroad including two major tournaments, the 2004 U. S. Senior Open in St. Louis, and 2008 U. S. Senior Open in Colorado Springs. He also had the privilege of playing with Arnold Palmer and Gary Player, which Tom considered one of the greatest moments of his golfing career. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Barbara (nee Wilkey) Studer of Shorewood; two sons, Chris and Dennis Studer, both of Joliet; one grandson, Marty Studer; his father, Richard Studer of Joliet; one sister, Rebecca Studer of Joliet; and four brothers, Ted (Shirlee) of Wilmington, Michael (Barbara) of New Lenox, Frank (Mary) of Wilmington, and Sam (Kelly) Studer of Channahon.
