Robert L. Colbert
Age 83. Peacefully Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Joliet, he was a lifelong Joliet area resident. A World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in 1982 after over 37 years of service. Former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #300. Following his retirement, he was able to pursue his love of woodworking, gardening, golf and endless projects with his children.
Preceded in death by one son, Robert in infancy; his parents, Harry and Luella Colbert; one brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Lois Colbert.
Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jeanne (nee Bertino) Colbert of Crest Hill; two daughters, Susan (John) Kochalka of Joliet, and Marianne Gulas of Joliet; two sons, Jim (Gayle) Colbert of Shorewood, and Michael (Marie) Colbert of Naperville; seven grandchildren, Jackie and Michael Kochalka; Bobby and Tom Gulas; Jim and Jeff Colbert; and Stephanie Colbert; two brothers, Richard "Bud" (Marge) Colbert of Joliet, and Ronald (Dorothy) Colbert of Shorewood; two sisters, Joann (late Jim) Misewicz, and Mary (Roger) Brown both of Joliet; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services for Robert L. Colbert will be Friday, December 10, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Resurrection Mausoleum, Romeoville. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. The Colbert Family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the loving care that they received from Bob's caregivers, Donna and Michele, and the staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice.
