Obituary of Samuel Woods

Samuel L. Woods Age 79, of Morris, IL., passed away peacefully, joining his beloved wife and the Lord on November 1, 2015. Born June 2, 1936 in West Chester, PA. the son of Herbert T. and Lottie E. (Walton) Woods and lived in Kennett Square, PA until he was 17. Sam joined the Air Force in February 1954. He completed his basic training in Samson, NY in May of 1954 after which he was stationed in Paris France and then the Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL where he was an automotive instructor until he was honorably discharged in April of 1963. While serving his Country, he met his wife Delores (nee Harris) and they were married on September 2, 1961 in Monticello, IL. They relocated to Morris in 1964. Sam was a member of Living Water Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his sister, Lillian King and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Delores "Lolo" Woods on August 2, 2010; his parents; and brothers, Jim, Jack, Marty, Leroy, William and Daniel. Funeral services for Samuel Woods will be held on Friday November 6, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris. Rev. Steven Cook officiating. Interment Sample Cemetery, where full Military Honors will be accorded under the auspices of the Morris Color Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Visitation Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the services begin at the funeral home.
