Obituary of Marie Hackiewicz

Marie Ann Hackiewicz (nee Schmalz) Age 57. Peacefully Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at her home with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Chicago and a longtime Plainfield and Shorewood area resident. Her greatest love in life was spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren - they kept her on her toes. Preceded by her mother, Lucille (nee Butvilas) Schmalz; and one brother, James Schmalz. Survived by her loving and devoted husband of 37 years, Michael J. Hackiewicz of Shorewood; two daughters, Juliana (Scot) Turvey and Lisa (Kip) Lambrecht, both of Minooka; her father, Joseph Schmalz, one brother, Joseph Schmalz, Jr., both of Chicago; four grandchildren, Colin and Natalie Turvey and Grayson and Brynlee Lambrecht; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for Marie Ann Hackiewicz will be Monday, November 9, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to Holy Family Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Good Shepherd Cemetery, Orland Park.
