Obituary of Barbara McCafferty

Barbara A. McCafferty, M.D. Age 76. Passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Senior Star at Weber Place. Born in New York City on June 30, 1939 to the late Francis W. and Gertrude (nee Stack) McCafferty. A graduate of St. Mary's High School in Sandusky, OH, the Catholic University of America in Washington DC, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree, Seton Hall College of Medicine in New Jersey with a MD degree and Philadelphia General Hospital in Philadelphia, PA where she entered residency in Radiology. Dr. McCafferty was a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma and also Phi Betta Kappa, both National Scholastic Honor Societies. Barbara had a strong appreciation and interest in opera, symphony, orchestras and theaters. She often attended these events in Philadelphia, New York and Washington D.C. areas for many years. Dr. McCafferty was a devoted patron of the arts, museums, schools and churches. Survived by one brother, Thomas A. (Carol) McCafferty of Crest Hill; and three nieces, Cynthia A. McCafferty of Chicago, IL, Colleen M. McCafferty of Sausalito, CA and Monica C. McCafferty of Denver, CO. Preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Gathering for Barbara A. McCafferty, M.D. will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Sandusky, OH.
