Obituary of Mary Liptak

Mary A. Liptak (nee Gura) Age 91, of Joliet, passed away peacefully at Harbor Chase of Tallahassee, FL on Thursday, November 5, 2015 with her family by her side. Born June 1, 1924, in Streator, IL to Thomas and Susan (Devera) Gura, she was a longtime Joliet resident. Loving mother of one son, Neil Liptak of Elwood; two daughters, Carol (Dr. John) Ness of Tallahassee, FL and Alice (Dr. Michael) Karlstad of Knoxville, TN; dearest grandmother of five; proud great-grandmother of three; and fond aunt to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Albert Liptak, whom she married January 4, 1947 in Streator, IL; her parents; and her siblings, John Gura, Frances Gura, Adele Harrington, Andrew Gura, Ann Creed and Thomas Gura. Mary was the youngest and last of the seven children in her family. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mary was known for her love of fashion, baking, knitting, sewing, and working in her yard. Funeral Services for Mary A. Liptak will be Monday, November 9, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue, Joliet. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to your favorite charity would be appreciated.
