Obituary of Gertrude Sleyko

Gertrude M. "Gert" Sleyko (nee Sebby) Age 93, of Joliet, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home. She was born October 29, 1922 to the late Ann (nee Wynn) and George Sebby in Plainfield, IL where she was raised and educated. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Victor Sleyko; daughter, Beverly Senters; and brother, Laverne Sebby. Survived by her son, Bob (Jane) Sleyko of Joliet, IL; daughter, Vicki Sleyko-Duncan of Mt. Vernon, IL; six grandchildren, Laura (Nathan) Senters, Michael (Lisa) Senters, Joe (April) Sleyko, Chris (Jandy) Sleyko, Liz (David) Hunter and Alec Duncan; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde (Betty) Sebby and Lloyd (Pam) Sebby; and several nieces and nephews. Gert retired from Jewel Food Store on Jefferson Street in Joliet after over 30 years of service. She was a long-time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a former volunteer at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. As it was Gertrude's wish, cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 710 W. Marion St., Joliet, Friday November 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice. For information (815) 741-5500.
