Obituary of Marcella Filotto

Marcella H. Filotto "Shippy" (nee Coyne) Age 86. At rest Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Lockport Township, IL, the daughter of the late William and Clara (Nee Wilhelmi) Coyne, she was a lifelong area resident. Attended Wilson School and graduated Lockport Township High School, Class of 1947. Marcella married Francis Filotto on October 14, 1950 at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Plainfield. Former member of the Mother's Club at St. Andrew the Apostle School, Romeoville. Member of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and the Will County Farm Bureau. An avid reader, loved to play bingo and work crossword puzzles. Her entire life was devoted to her family and was instrumental in running the family farm. Survived by her four children, Robert (Deborah) Filotto of Joliet, Mary Kathleen (Richard) Hall of Canton, GA, Peggie Ann (Jeffrey) Conrad of Plainfield and Jim (Penny) Filotto of Romeoville; eleven beloved grandchilren, Megan (Matt) Bramson, Reid Filotto, Elizabeth (Tim) Slowinski, Stephanie (Zach) Wyman, Carolyn Hall, Kelly (fiancee', Scott Elam) Conrad, Staci (Doug) Marcis, Jaclyn (fiancee', Nicholas Pullara) Conrad, Kevin, Jennifer and Jake Filotto; three beloved great-grandchildren, Annabelle and William Solwinski and Benjamin Bramson; close cousin, Shirley Hamrick; dear friends, Margie Howell and Jane McClintock; several nieces and nephews. Preceded by her loving husband of 27 years, Francis Filotto (1977); siblings, William (Eleanor) Coyne, Francis "Bud" (Shirley) Coyne, Mary (Frank) Kiernan, Evelyn (Carl) Hendrickson, Bob (Lorene) Coyne and Pat (Nancy) Coyne; best friend, Mae Welsh. Marcella's sons would like to thank their sisters, Kathy and Peggie for their tireless devotion to our Mother. Their dedication to her quality of life and well being will be treasured forever. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Lakewood, including Beth Ann (Activities Director) for their kind and compassionate care for Mom over the past 14 years. Funeral services for Marcella H. Filotto will be Wednesday, November 25, 2015, 9:30 a.m.at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington Rds.), Joliet to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Mary Immaculate School or Joliet Catholic Academy would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday, 2-8 p.m. For more information (815) 741-5500.
