Obituary of Donald Prodehl

Donald A. Prodehl "Duck" Age 83. Passed away peacefully Thursday, December 10, 2015 at home after a hard fought battle against cancer. Born December 3, 1932 to the late Rose (nee Brinskelle) and Bernard J. Prodehl in Joliet, IL, he was a lifetime resident. A graduate with the Class of 1950 of Joliet Catholic High School. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was the beloved father of Mary Jo (Peter) Hollingsworth of Chesterton, IN, Lori Jensen-Prodehl of Joliet and Donald J. (Carolyn) Prodehl of Arnold, MD; loving grandfather of Kelly (Ryan), Kathleen and Nicholas Hollingsworth, Kristin (Joe), Travis and Hunter Jensen and Jena and Andrew Prodehl; proud great grandfather of Tessa Rose; dear brother of Fr. Richard B. Prodehl; fond brother-in-law of Tom "Buddy" (Darlene) Larson. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He will also be missed by Izzy, his "mooch". He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Joan F. (nee Larson) Prodehl; and his parents. Don retired several years ago after a lengthy, enjoyable career as a lithographer. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church and had served as an usher for many of those years. He will be remembered fondly by his family as wonderful husband, father, brother and friend. The Prodehl family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers of "Duck" from Hospice, especially Sue, Margie and Marlene. Funeral Services for Donald A. Prodehl will be Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Richard B. Prodehl will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
