Obituary of DeWayne Phillips

DeWayne D. Phillips Age 71. At rest peacefully Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born August 29, 1944 in Cleveland, OH to Roy and Edith (nee Patterson) Phillips. Retired from Caterpillar as a manager in 2002 with 38 years of service. A Guardian Angel Home Alumni and past President of Ingalls Park A.C. DeWayne was a handyman who enjoyed woodworking. He also enjoyed playing Poker with a group of his buddies for the past 35 years and was an avid golfer. Survived by his daughter, Denielle (Anthony) Hrusosky; granddaughters, Hailee and Alyssa Hrusosky; his buddy, Marc Hrpcha, who was like a grandson; stepdaughter, Robin Plese; mother, Edith Phillips; sister, Nancy (Tom) Vaughn; brother, Scott (Sandy) Phillips; sister, Mary Jane Pederson; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, Roy Phillips. A Memorial Gathering for DeWayne D. Phillips will be held Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until time of prayer service at 2:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. As it was DeWayne's wish, Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. For more information: (815) 741-5500.
