Charles P. Malinowski "Ski" "Skip" Age 67. Suddenly Friday, January 22, 2016 while at work at the Lac Vieux Desert Casino in Watersmeet, MI as the result of a massive cardiac event. A life long Joliet and Plainfield resident. A U.S. Air Force Veteran serving in Germany with the military police during the Vietnam War. Retired in 1998 from the Will County Sheriff's Police as a Lieutenant with numerous meritorious service and honorable service awards. Formerly employed by Wilmington Police Department. Charles, also affectionately known as "Ski", was a caretaker for the Plainfield Township Cemetery for many years. Most recently he was employed at the Lac Vieux Desert Casino as a Security Supervisor up until the good Lord called him home. A lifetime member of the Plainfield Volunteer Firefighters Association and past Chairman of the Board of Plainfield Fire Commissioners. Preceded in death by his father, Charles Mitok; and his parents, Leo and Helen Mitok (nee Stonich) Malinowski. Survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan M. (nee Matejcak) Malinowski of Plainfield; two brothers, Dr. Jim (Lorrie) Malinowski of Shorewood and Jack (Karen) Malinowski of Crest Hill; one sister, Jill (Terry) Volpp of Shorewood; one uncle, Bernie (Shirley) Stonich of Plainfield; father-in-law, John A. (Susan) Matejcak; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends including his best buds and faithful canine companions, Ruthie, Penelope, the late Fred, the late Barney, the late Emma. Funeral Services for Charles P. "Ski" Malinowski will be Friday, January 29, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Plainfield Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Will County Humane Society, 24109 W Seil Rd, Shorewood, IL 60404 in his name would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday, 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
