Obituary of Monte Brandner

Monte L. Brandner Age 68, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL following a courageous battle with heart failure with his best friend, loving and devoted wife forever by his side. Born in New Leipzig, ND to the late Arthur and Cecilia (Ackerman) Brandner. A member of the New Leipzig High School, Class of 1965. He served four years in the United States Navy as a Medical Corpsman. Following his service to his country, he established and ran the Campbell County Wyoming Ambulance Service. He worked in construction management around the country; the last 20 years at Argonne National Laboratory. He and his wife retired to the Black Hills of South Dakota in 2008 where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, four-wheeling, photography, traveling and playing with his dog, Crystal. He is survived by his wife, Peg (nee Mammosser); his step-son, Everett Dolphin of Columbus, IN; his brothers, Nicholas (Bobbi) of Rapid City, SD, Joel (Mary) of Sturgis, SD; and his sister, Mary (Mike) Erhart of Rapid City, SD. He was a dedicated Rotarian, serving as Club President and Assistant District Governor. He also devoted time as a member of the Hill City, SD Ambulance Board of Directors. Monte was a loving, caring, generous man with a contagious laugh. He will be missed by those left behind. Funeral services for Monte L. Brandner will be Friday, February 12, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road Joliet, Illinois. Fr. Ron Neitzke will officiate. As it was Monte's request, Cremation Rites have been accorded. Following Monte's services, he will return to the Black Hills to the Blessed Sacrament Church, 4500 Jackson Boulevard Rapid City, SD 57702 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Friday February 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Monte will then return to Illinois in the spring for interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy. Memorials in his memory may be made to the Rotary Foundation.
