John J. Best Age 96. At rest Thursday, February 11, 2016 at The Timbers of Shorewood. Born on February 23, 1919 to the late John and Minnie (nee Hanson) Best. A World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army as PFC. Survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy (nee Griffin); three children, Howard (Gloria) Marcia (Roger) Konopa and Bruce (Joyce); five grandchildren, Heather Egland (Geary Yonker), Amber Konopa, Gwendolyn Konopa, Kathryn Best and Allison (Ben) Williams; four great-grandchildren, Elijah and Ava Yonker, Olivia Konopa and Cameron Williams; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Luke Best; and siblings, Lola Volkmann, Rayford, Lowell, Warren and Edward Best. Funeral Services for John J. Best will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
