Obituary of Martha Manthey

Martha E. Manthey Martha "Marty" Manthey passed away Saturday, February 13th, 2016 at her son Michael's home, in the care of her devoted daughter-n-law, Margaret and Joliet Area Community Hospice. Martha was born July 17, 1928, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raniero Saccutelli of Chicago Heights, IL. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Arthur H. Manthey on June 10, 1950. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1998, married for 48 years. Dismissed as a child from an overcrowded Italian kitchen, Martha loved playing stick ball in the alley with the neighborhood boys, which may have sparked her love of the game. Mom never missed a game cheering for her Cubbies from her Lazy Boy chair. She was a compassionate, warm-hearted wife, mother and grandmother. She started every day with coffee and her Bible. Her unconditional love was like no other. Those left to cherish Martha's memory include her children, Mike (Margaret) Manthey, Jim (Debbie) Manthey and Lauri Manthey (Richard) Garcia; nine grandchildren, Maisie and Madden Manthey, Kevin Manthey, Jimmy (Heather) Manthey, Julie (Joe) Williams, Danielle (Oscar) Camargo and Richie Garcia; two great-grandchildren, Maxyn Williams and Brody Garcia. As it was Marty's request, cremation rites have been accorded under the direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington Rds.), Joliet.
