Age 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Brookdale Assisted Living of Joliet Sunday, February 21, 2016. Born December 21, 1917 in Joliet, a lifelong resident, Angie and her husband, Fred were co-owners of High Way Super Mart, Scaccia Wholesale Distributors and Town and Country Banquet Hall. She and her husband were also founding members of St. Mary Magdalene Parish and a member of the CCW. Her passion in life was her family, friends and her love for dancing and was known as the "Queen of the Ballroom".
Survived by her two daughters, Charlene (George) Waldvogel and Marlene (Len) Sturdy; 13 grandchildren, Joe (Donna) Bertino, Paul (Jennifer) Bertino, Beth (Matt) Shanahan, Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, Michael (Elena) Bertino, Daniel (Nicole) Bertino, Peter Bertino, Gina (Joe) Weber, Terri (John) Stefanski, Gayle (Steve) Marchio, Carrie (Kevin) Liebovich, Gregg (Kristy) Sturdy, Angela (Mike) Jaworski; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by her husband, Fred R. Scaccia; her daughter, Gerri (Joe) Bertino; her parents, Thomas and Marion Chellino; five sisters, Therese Cemeno, Rose Mancuso, Josephine Greco, Isabelle Bick and Caroline Wisnewski; brother, Samuel Chellino; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Angeline Scaccia will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church for a Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer's Association or St. Mary Magdalene Parish would be appreciated. Visitation Friday, 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. For more information: (815) 741-5500.
