George J. Sefcik
Age 64, of Joliet, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 due to complications from double pneumonia.
Born in Joliet August 29, 1951 to Phyllis (nee Helbling) and the late George E. Sefcik. He attended St. Patrick Catholic Grade School and graduated from Joliet West High School, Class of 1970.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Phyllis; and aunts, Maggie Noe, Rose Sefcik, Theresa Sefcik, Betty Helbling and Kathy Helbling. Many cousins also survive as well as his good buddies, John Henkle, Tim Allocco, Norman Blackhall and another dear friend, Steve Brown.
Preceded in death by his father, George E. Sefcik (2001); aunts, Betty (late Homer) Givenrod and Ann (late Earl) Sorensen; uncles, Al Sefcik, Joe (late Bertha) Sefcik, John (late Alice) Sefcik, Jerry Sefcik, Steve (late Pauline) Sefcik, Joe Helbling, James Helbling and George Noe.
He was employed as a bank teller for 26 years at the former Joliet Federal Savings & Loan (Chase Bank). He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. A sports enthusiast, George enjoyed "tabulating the stats" for the various fantasy leagues he was involved with. George will fondly be remembered as a very thoughtful and kind gentleman who didn't let his disability affect his positive outlook on life.
Funeral Services for George J. Sefcik will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 8:45 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds. Joliet to St. Patrick Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Entombment Elmhurst Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
