Age 77, of Morris, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Regency Care.
Marilyn was born February 18, 1939 in Streator, IL, the daughter of Gertrude (Reimer) and Viggo Beier. She was raised in Dwight and attended high school in Newark and Morris, graduating with the class of 1956 from Morris Community High School.
Beloved mother of Stephen (Carol) Phillips of Morris, Michael (Lisa) Phillips of Lostant and Donald (Melissa) Phillips of Gardner; proud grandmother of, Morgan and Ethan; fond aunt of Raymond, Gary and Jerry Beier; several good friends, including JoAnn (Dan) Callahan also survive.
Preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald (late Anabelle) Beier and former husband, Gary Phillips.
Marilyn was a dedicated employee of Matteson Ace Hardware for 25 years. Previously employed by AP Green and as a bookkeeper for Dr. Victor Smith. In her younger years she was an operator for Illinois Bell (Chicago Telephone). Mrs. Phillips was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, former member and past president of the Morris Junior Women's Club and also a founding member of Friends in Christ Lutheran Church.
She was a collector of music boxes and also enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, cross stitching, playing solitaire on the computer and most recently genealogy.
The Phillips family would like to thank the staff of Regency Care in Morris for their care and compassion shown Marilyn during her stay.
Funeral services for Marilyn A. Phillips will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 (at Deerpath Drive) Morris. Rev. Mark Willig officiating. Interment Sample Cemetery. Visitation Saturday 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
