One day when we both worked for the US Foods Streator division, I met Len in Joliet to make some sales calls. When I hopped into his van he told me to remind him he needed to buy some gas. (That was a rare case of Len making a bad decision - he trusted me!) About an hour later we ran out of gas a mile or so from an appointment in Lockport.
While we waited high and dry by the side of the road for a savior to bring us a can of gas, Len told me to never tell Joyce what happened: "Whenever we're out driving and the gauge shows half-empty, we have to fill 'er up. If she hears I ran out I'll never hear the end of it." That's just one of many happy memories I have of my friend.

Dear Lord,
As you have welcomed Len home into your loving arms he has left behind a very loving family who need your comfort during this difficult time. Lens journey home to you will be hard on those he has temporarily left behind. Please watch over them and guide them until they understand that he is no longer in pain and is smiling at your side watching over everyone. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Len Grote was someone who touched you in a positive way. He was a great man that left an amazing impaction so many lives. He lived a nice long life to have enjoyed watching his children and grand children grow so far along that he was able to celebrate the birth of 15 great grandchildren and the expectancy of the arrival of the 16th. May his family and friends find comfort in knowing that they will see him again someday.
I admired his strive for life, his love for his family and his christian faith.
He will always be in our prayers and thoughts. We send our love and condolences to his family during this difficult time.
