Obituary of Robert Elmore

Robert A. Elmore Age 81, late of the Timbers of Shorewood, and formerly of Brookfield, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet. Born June 2, 1934, in Springfield, IL, he was the son of the late Athol and Emma (Lester) Elmore. He served with the United States Army from 1957 to 1959, and worked as a computer analyst for the Railroad Retirement Board, retiring with 37 years of service. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and a dear grandfather and great-grandfather. He was very proud of his family. Surviving are his children, Robert (Joy) Elmore of Plainfield, Jennifer (Jeff) Bendy of New Lenox, Michael (Anita) Elmore of Clarksville, TN, and John Elmore of Minneapolis, MN; 16 grandchildren, Jennifer, Lauren, Michael, Jeremy, Kristen, Kara, Sara, Matthew, Joseph, Jacob, Anthony, Rachael, Mark, Carmen, Mitchell and Joshua; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Maddox, Noah, Kaylen, Madison and McKinley; three sisters, Patsy (the late Daniel) Lind, Peggy (the late Fred) Steele, and Connie (Russell) Mack; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine (Wachowski) Elmore in 2010. Funeral services for Robert A. Elmore will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be private. Visitation will be Friday, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
