Eva M. Galounis "Mama G" Age 88, peacefully Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born January 25, 1928 to Crescenzo and Palma D'Orazio in Alaquippa, PA, moving to Joliet as a young girl. Eva was a creative and talented young woman. She mastered the art of Italian cooking under her beloved mother's watchful eye. Eva owned and operated Mama G's restaurant, cooked for the American Italian Cultural Club and created memorable meals for family and friends. She loved going to the club to play cards with her many friends. Survived by her loving sons, Chris (Theresa) and George (Patricia); grandchildren, Bill (Kristine), Brad (Michelle) Kitchener, Chad, Alex (Danielle Prince), Christopher, Daniel and Sarah Galounis and Sophia Galounis; proud great-grandmother of three; five sisters, Anna Knoop, Ida Delrose, Nancy (Paul) Corsetti, Josephine (Joseph) Srsnick and Rita (Richard) Mattea; one sister-in-law, Maria Galounis; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and many dear friends including Jackie DiNardo. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alex; son, Bill Kitchener; brothers-in-law, George Knoop, Emanuel Delrose and Gus Galounis; and sister-in-law, Voula Marcopoulis. A special thank you and appreciation is extended to the staff of Joliet Area Community Hospice for their care and support in her final days. Funeral Services for Eva M. Galounis will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
