Obituary of Helen Corneglio

Helen Elizabeth Corneglio (nee Stellano) Age 91, of South Wilmington, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Walnut Grove Nursing Home in Morris with her daughter Carol by her side. She was born June 12, 1920 in South Wilmington to the late Peter and Agnes(nee Wilson) Stellano. She married Charles Corneglio on November 1, 1937. They spent their married life of 68 years in Peotone, Gardner and South Wilmington. Helen is survived by two daughters, Sandra Sowers of South Wilmington and Carol (Joe) Myers of Morris; son Wayne (JoAnn) Corneglio of Texas; daughter-in-law Roberta Corneglio of South Wilmington; grandsons Rick Corneglio of Farmer City and Mark (Michele) Corneglio of Santee, California; half-brother Dale (Lynn) Stellano of South Wilmington; half-sister Sharon Stellano Heiman of South Wilmington; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Chuck and Betty Benbrooks. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Charles in 2006, son Richard in 2011, son-in-law Archie Sowers, and sister Catherine Hansen. Helen enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, whom she taught at very young ages to play cards. In addition to playing cards, she enjoyed crocheting, reading and playing games on the computer. She was noted for her graham cracker pies and home made soups. As was Helen's wish, cremation rites will be accorded. Private services will be held at a later date.
