Obituary of Thomas R. Allison

Thomas R. Allison "Tom" Age 73. Suddenly Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Joliet and a lifelong Joliet and New Lenox area resident, retiring to Goose Lake in 1999. A member of the Will County Carpenters Union Local #174 for 48 years. He was a member of the Will County Audubon Society. Thomas also received Volunteer of the Year Award from the Will County Forest Preserve for his outstanding commitment to the district. Thomas was an expert "Birder", he loved teaching others about birds. He was a field trip leader for twenty years and was a volunteer at Lake Renwick for twenty-five years. His love of the outdoors and wildlife was unparalleled. Preceded by his parents, Arthur and Evelyn Allison; and one brother, Wayne Allison. Survived by loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Carol E. (nee Watkins) Allison; one daughter, Christine (Gregory Furman) Allison of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Thomas, Allison and Katrina Furman, all of Chicago; three brothers; two sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for Thomas R. Allison will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. As it was Tom's request, Cremation Rites will be accorded following his visitation and funeral services.
