Obituary of William Robert Murphy
William Robert Murphy
Age 85, and a lifelong resident of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 23, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center. Born January 7, 1931 to the late Clara (nee Burns) and James Murphy. He served with the U.S. Army from 1956-1961 and was a graduate of Lewis College of Science & Technology with a bachelor of arts degree. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
He is survived by several cousins and lifelong friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Joan Murphy.
Bill loved baseball especially his Chicago White Sox. He was also a gifted athlete and an avid long distance runner.
Funeral services for William Murphy will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors will take place Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
