"Bob"
Age 88. At rest Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his loving family by his side. Born in Joliet and resided in Joliet and Crest Hill most of his life. He spent the past four years residing in Bolingbrook, IL with his daughter.
A U.S. Korean War Army veteran honorably discharged in 1952 after serving in the 4th Signal Battalion. He was a graduate of St. John the Baptist Grade School and Joliet Catholic High School.
Bob retired from Lucent Technologies (formerly Illinois Bell/AT&T) after 38 years of service. After retirement, he drove the school bus for St. Jude Catholic School in Joliet for several years.
Bob was an avid fisherman who spent many weeks at his home away from home along the Fox River in Wedron, IL with his family. He was also an avid Chicago White Sox fan. He loved to bowl and was on numerous leagues throughout the years. He also loved gardening and spent many hours simply sitting outside with his wife, Shirley.
Survived by his children, Charles (Debbie) Lambert of Minooka, Thomas (Marsha) Lambert of Channahon, Laurie (Larry) Pottorff of Joliet, Robert "Moose" (Denise) Lambert of Wilmington, Patty (Tony) Torres of Bolingbrook and Janet (Mike) Gruben of Joliet. Bob was the very proud Papa of 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley (2001); his daughter, Jennifer Joan Lambert; brother, Donald (Marcie) Lambert; and parents, Michael and Hazel Lambert.
The family of Bob would like to especially thank Dr. Bhuvan Chawla and his staff, particularly Cathy, the staff at the Joliet Area Community Hospice and the Eucharistic ministers and priests from St. Francis of Assisi parish in Bolingbrook, IL for their many kind visits to Bob in the past four years.
Funeral Services for Robert M. Lambert will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
