Obituary of Kathleen M. Quinn

Kathleen M. Quinn (nee Kustusch) "Kay" Age 69, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully, at home, Monday, June 6, 2016 with her family by her side. Born November 1, 1946 in Evergreen Park, she was the daughter of Gus and Helen (Gaynor) Kustusch. Kay worked over 25 years as a closing secretary for Spring Realty and Sharp Homes before retiring in 2006. Kay was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and a former member of the Church of St. Jude where she was very active in all aspects of St. Jude School including serving as Past President of the School Board. She was also an active supporter of Centro Santa Catalina, a faith-based community for the welfare of economically poor women and children founded by her late sister, Sr. Donna. Her life revolved around her family. She loved watching her grandchildren grow up and lead active lives. She was devoted to her inseparable best friend and husband, Jack, and missed him since he passed 19 years ago. Kay also loved traveling with her sister, her time with friends at the Wilmington Recreation Club, her lunch group, and more recently enjoyed watching professional golf. Surviving are her children, John (Alex) Quinn of Shorewood, Katie (Ed) Michel, Maura (Don) Williams, and Kevin (Amanda) Quinn, all of Joliet; nine grandchildren, Colleen, Shannon and Sean Quinn, Kyle, Paige and Danny Michel, Abby and Maggie Williams, and T. J. Quinn; one sister, Karen (late Ron) Weber of Palos Heights; two nieces, Donna (Dan) Redmond and Tricia (John) Jankowski; one nephew, Paul (Edie) Weber; and numerous great nieces and great nephews. Preceded by her beloved husband, John "Jack" Quinn (1997); her parents; and one sister, Donna Kustusch, O.P. The family would like to thank Joliet Area Community Hospice, especially her nurse, Wanda, for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers memorials to Centro Santa Catalina (www.centrosantacatalina.org) or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Funeral services for Kay Quinn will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Drive, Shorewood. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet.
